Windows 10 December Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has been quite generous in terms of pushing updates to an OS that’s nearing its end. Despite Windows 10’s support deadline just a few months away, Microsoft is still rolling out monthly non-security previews. The latest one is KB5058481 for version 22H2, bringing build 19045.5917.

KB5058481 update brings back the clock and improves calendar in Windows 10 22H2

What’s interesting here is the return of the calendar flyout clock. Microsoft quietly removed it before, and no one really knew why. Now it’s back—no explanation, just a quiet reappearance. On top of that, this update also enhances the Rich Calendar experience.

There are a couple of technical fixes too. KB5058481 addresses some issues with GDI and WinSaS, though Microsoft didn’t go into detail. Still, it’s nice to see these backend problems being sorted, even this late in the game.

As for bugs, there’s one known issue: blurry Noto fonts in Chromium-based browsers, but only on systems using Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.

You can install the update by heading to Settings > Windows Update and selecting Download and install manually. Or, if you prefer, grab it directly from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Windows 11 users aren’t left out either. If you’re on version 22H2 or 23H2, you’ve got your own non-security update. And version 24H2? That’s been updated too.
