If you’re running out of space on your Xbox Series X or Series S, Seagate has a new 4TB storage expansion card—but it’s not cheap. The drive launched this week and is priced at $429.99, nearly matching the cost of a new Xbox Series X.
Seagate’s SSD is the top pick for Xbox consoles. It matches the internal drive’s speed, so you can run Xbox Series X|S games directly without slowdowns. It also plugs in easily, making it one of the simplest upgrades around.
Still the best SSD for Xbox—just very expensive
The 4TB Seagate Expansion Card offers better value per terabyte than smaller models, but the up-front price is steep. For less money, you can grab the 2TB version for $219.99 or the 1TB for $129.99—both on sale right now.
Slower external drives work fine for storing games or playing older titles, but you’ll need something like Seagate’s SSD to actually launch newer Xbox Series games.
Remember, most players can manage with 1TB or 2TB if they regularly uninstall older games. Even with storage hogs like Call of Duty or Forza Horizon, the extra space should cover plenty of big titles, especially if your console already includes 1TB built-in.
So, unless you’re juggling dozens of modern games at once, that $429.99 might be better spent elsewhere.
