Firefox Nightly introduces Alt text generation for enhanced web accessibility

Firefox is quietly making tab management a lot less fiddly. After finally rolling out vertical tabs in March with version 136, Mozilla is now streamlining how you pin tabs.

You can simply drag one tab into a pinned tab area, and it’s pinned. If you want to unpin it, simply drag it out, and you’re done. You don’t have to right-click menus, no extra steps. The gesture works whether you’re using horizontal or vertical tabs, so it’s flexible too.

There’s one catch, though. It only works if you already have at least one pinned tab. Otherwise, Firefox assumes you’re just rearranging tabs. Still, once you get the hang of it, the new system feels natural.

The change is currently live in Firefox Nightly, which means it’s still in testing. That also means it’s not the most stable experience, but it gives us a glimpse of what’s coming. Nightly builds often include early or experimental features that aren’t quite ready for everyone just yet.

While this is a nice quality-of-life upgrade, some users think it could go further. Dragging is cool, but what about a keyboard shortcut to pin or unpin a tab instantly? Other browsers don’t offer that either, so there’s definitely room for Mozilla to stay ahead. If you’re curious, you can grab Firefox Nightly from Mozilla’s site and try it out.
